Thomas Bremer is Professor of Latin American Literature and Culture at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. His research focuses on the Carribean, the Andean Area, and Argentina. He is the editor of Alternative Cultures in the Caribbean, History and Histories in the Caribbean and Das Bildgedächtnis Lateinamerikas. Beiträge zur Fotografiegeschichte, among others. He is head of GILCAL (Grupo de investigación de literaturas y culturas de América Latina), a group of researchers within the frame of CEISAL, the UNESCO European research association on Latin America.
