What Europe Can and Should Not Transfer From American Universities

Prof. Charles McClelland (Univ. of New Mexico, NM/Univ. of Texas, Galveston, TX)

Charles E. McClelland is an American scholar who explores German history from a transatlantic perspective. His first book – The German Historians and England (Cam-bridge UP) – was published in 1971. His latest – Berlin, the Mother of all Research Universities (2016) – focuses on the history of Humboldt Universität and documents his lifelong passion for archival research. In 2017 David Cahan called our guest “one of the leading scholars of German universities and professionalism in Germany.”

In his talk Charles McClelland will address the question whether Germany should look at American institutions of higher education as models or not.

The event begins at 12.15 pm. Everybody interested in the topic is welcome to attend.

Organized by Dr. Martin Meyer.
